Weichtalklamm (Austria), Any time.
Hot summer, cool gorge. Think about it, not a bad pairing. Waterfalls, ladders, rock walls – everything a gorge should have. An easy rather than difficult gorge hike in the Alps, where you can relax from the climb in a cosy refuge. Of course, while the rest of us are eating our lunch, for the more adventurous, the Turmstein is right next to the house and will certainly appeal to those who like to ‘climb walls’.
Min 2pers. Participation fee: 50 EUR/person.

Preinerwandsteig – Rax Alps – Any time.
For those who are wondering why we don’t organise this trip on the usual weekend dates, I would like to point out that this is another “secured route”, or as they call it in Italy: Via Ferrata.
Anyone who has been on this route knows that the crowds do not make the climb any more enjoyable or comfortable. We try to avoid the weekend rush hour and wander along the paths and cliffs without queuing. Once again, we’ll take a look at a route recommended for beginners, but not behind the Teufelsbadstubensteig. On this VANDORLAS we climb up the Rax plateau to the summit of the Preinerwand. After enjoying the panorama, we head downhill…
Participation fee: 60EUR/person, including the rental of the ferrata set.

Bärenlochsteig – Rax Alps – Any time.
Oops! A new ferrata, a new challenge for the lovers of secured routes.
This via ferrata is also not classified as extreme, but here, we have to overcome a difference in level of about 1,300m to stand on the highest point of the Rax Alps, the Heukuppe, and fill our eyes with Wonders. And the route, on which we climb to over 2,000m, is a real joy for beginners and advanced ferratists alike. Once again, the weekday start is a means of “crowd avoidance” that we find effective.
Participation fee: 60EUR/person, which includes the rental of the ferrata set.

The price is 60€ per ferrata – 60€ for the use of the ferrata – 60€ for the use of the ferrata – 60€ for the use of the ferrata.
Yes, we invite you to Kőszeg, rightly called the “jewel box” of Hungary, where you can relax from your wanderings in the “Mézeskalácsház”, with our hospitable friends… Tasty, beautiful springs await you during your journey. And before dinner, if you want, you can relax in the sauna. If the weather is nice and warm, we will also include a surprise bike ride with our guide Norbi:
Mohás Guesthouse – Cák quarry – Pogányi cellar – Velem – Bozsok – Rohonc.

Immediately behind the guesthouse, we start cycling on the Írottkő Nature Park cycle path, on the edge of the beautiful vineyards of Pogányok. Cák: a small village of small streets with an old-fashioned atmosphere at the foot of Kőszeg. In the upper street of the village you will find old wine cellars built of beams, plastered with mud and with hipped roofs, beautifully restored, which still preserve the 19th century atmosphere of the Cák cellar. The cellars now serve as museums, recalling the once flourishing vineyard culture and showing the old tools of winemaking and the now dying craft of wine making.

Our journey takes us to Velem, the most famous village in the area. Its name is of Slavic origin, meaning a peaceful place. The hill of St. Vid (568 m) with the chapel of St. Vid from the 19th century rises above the village. In the village we visit the still working water mill, Novak’s Village and in the centre of Velem the House of the Creator, where the Hungarian Crown was once kept.

From Velem it is a quarter of an hour’s ride to the village of Bozsok. The history and sights of Bozsok are linked to the Sibrik Castle on the outskirts of the village, which was built in the 16th and 17th centuries.

Next, you can visit the village of Rechniz (Rohonc), which is part of the Nature Park, where you can take a dip in the bathing pool fed by the mountain stream. Passing through Kőszegszerdahely, we cycle in the direction of Cák, with a pleasant pub along the way. It is probably not important to say more about the nature and importance of such encountersJ Towards the end of our journey, three more minor climbs and we are “home”, where you might deserve a glass of wine in the cellar of the guesthouse.
Afterwards, head for a well-earned sauna at your leisure.

On the last day, of course, we don’t miss the town, where everyone can feast their eyes on wonders to their heart’s content. At the same time you can taste the wines of Kőszeg.

We recommend our Kőszeg hikings to anyone who, besides enjoying wandering, would like to relax a bit after the summer rush.
